Robert De LaSalle

Robert De LaSalle was a French explorer,
He was born in November 22, 1643
Died March 19, 1687.
He was 44 when he died.
His death was because of his crew mutinying.
He did not have any children but was married to Laura Corade.
He was educated by Jesuits.
He was the son of a rich trader.
He built a fort called Fort Burtanec.

After he died his ship ‘Le Griffon’ disappeared and was recently discovered in 1995 and scientists say it is the most important ship discovery ever.

Also his other ship ‘La Belle’ sunk, and was also recently found and scientists say it is the most important shipwreck ever found.

He did not have any children but was married to Laura Corade.

Robert De LaSalle went exploring because his father forced him to go on a travelling group.

His first voyage was to Canada and while he went there he stayed there with his brother.

He is famous for exploring the Mississippi River, Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario which is all placed in USA, next to Houston, Texas.

He went there because King Louis XIV (XIV=14) sent him there.
